SYNspine™

SYNspine™ is a biomimetic simulator with a highly realistic look and feel, enabling surgeons to practice using real surgical instruments in an environment that closely mirrors actual clinical scenarios. It allows for repeated, deliberate practice of surgical procedures, supporting both cognitive and psychomotor skill development in a safe setting without any risk to patients.

Transfer Skills to the OR

Transfer Skills to the OR

Apply what you learn to the OR and transfer skills more easily to clinical practice.

Practice with real instruments

Practice with real instruments

Develop true mastery using real surgical instruments in open procedures or in restricted spaces with limited visibility for MIS or endoscopic surgery.

No risk of radiation

No risk of radiation

Eliminates exposure to radiation or the need to wear a lead apron for a lengthy period of time.

Mimics Real Spine Tissue

Mimics Real Spine Tissue

Train on models that closely mimic the behaviour of real tissues.

Lifelike Training – Without a Cadaver

SYNspine™ offers a portfolio of training models that simulate healthy and pathological anatomies. It is a perfect alternative for MedTech companies to showcase their products without the limitations of cadaver labs.

Tick

Designed for Surgical Training

SYNspine™ is specifically designed for surgical training, focusing on both procedural and psychomotor skills development in a safe, controlled environment.

Tick

Enables deliberate practice

It enables deliberate practice, allowing trainees to repeatedly perform procedures, receive targeted feedback and refine their techniques – an approach proven to accelerate skill acquisition and improve operative performance.

Tick

Real-life high-fidelity haptics

SYNspine™ offers real-life haptics, providing highly realistic tactile feedback through advanced simulation technologies, which closely mimic the feel of actual tissues and instruments..

Tick

Real Instruments & X-Ray-free Navigation

Trainees use genuine surgical instruments and patient imaging, combined with precise, radiation-free navigation, to enhance familiarity and transferability to the operating room.

Learn more about SYNspine™

SYNspine™ supports open and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including uniportal and biportal endoscopy. You can practice lumbar decompression and fusion, discectomy, foraminal stenosis treatment, and more.
Yes, SYNspine™ is compatible with most standard surgical instruments, including endoscopic instruments, rongeurs, burrs and drills, and RF probes.
Yes, the SYNspine™ anatomical structures appear clearly under 2D/3D fluoroscopy and CT scans. In addition, its built-in navigation system allows for X-ray free training.
SYNspine™ offers more consistency, accessibility and reproducibility than cadavers and allows for skill assessment without ethical or logistical constraints.
At room temperature, soft tissues of a sealed cartridge in its original packaging last up to 6 months. To extend their lifespan to 6+ months, store the cartridge in a refrigerator. Avoid excessive heat, as it degrades the gels.
Wipe down the bin and hood with soap and water using a microfiber cloth. Avoid using alcohol as it can damage the materials.
Once a cartridge has been used, it can be stored in the hermetically sealed plastic bag supplied, at room temperature, or in the fridge to extend its life even further. It can be reused as many times as required, so long as the soft tissue properties are still acceptable. Eventually, the cartridge will dry out, as soft tissues are mostly composed of water. Of course, it all depends on the condition of the cartridge after use, and whether the anatomical structures are too damaged for the next training session.

What Surgeons Are Saying

aphoristic

“SYNspine™ provides an unparalleled level of realism in spinal procedures. It allows my residents to refine their psychomotor skills and procedural confidence before ever stepping into the OR. It’s become an essential part of our surgical training program.”
